Day 40

I made it! I made it! 40 days, and not once did I skip. Even if I wanted to!

Today I finished strong with Turbo Jam. Just the 20-minute workout, since I have to get my busy day going, but I put every ounce of energy I had into that workout. And it feels good!

Thank you, to my 2 or 3 faithful readers, for keeping me accountable. It certainly helps!

I plan to keep on going, having created a habit I can continue. Won't you join me?

I won't be blogging about it anymore, but you are always welcome to ask me how it's going. Keep me accountable. :-)

If you want to keep up with my next project, check out my other blog (which so far has only one post because I haven't made much progress yet) about my tent trailer renovation project. It's called Lemon to Lemonade Trailer Renovation at lemontrailertolemonade.blogspot.com

Let's keep moving!

Day 39

Today has been busy, but I made the time. Turbo Sculpt today, and it sure got me sweating. The good news is, I'm seeing more definition in my muscles, and that feels great! It also gives me more stamina for every day things, like holding a baby.

It was a turbulent workout today, with a screaming 4-year-old for most of it. She was mad because I confiscated the toy that she confiscated (putting it nicely) from her brother. There was a brawl. So the toy is in a time out, and she's none too happy about that. It took her about 30 minutes of the 40-minute workout to get over it.

Overcoming challenges is what it's about, right? Happy birthday to me. :-/

Well, until tomorrow:

Day 38

I'm posting on my phone today, since our wifi seems completely stuck. So you're in luck, it will be short.

I finally got around to the workout today. I did Country Line Dance. It's fun, and since I'd done some arm work putting together a dresser, I figured just leg work and cardio would be fine.

Only two days left!

Until tomorrow:

Day 37

The challenge continues. And it's almost done.

I've been busy today, and yet my house is messier than ever. Remember my IKEA trip from yesterday? I bought 12 pieces of furniture (not counting the kids' chairs that Nic put together last night while I was working out), and all of them need major assembly. I put together one of them today. One. Granted, it was probably the most complicated of the 12. Although the four dressers might give it a run for its money. So for the hours that I was getting that filing cabinet put together, what were the kids doing? Well, lets just say, this house needs some major work now. And I'm not nearly done.

But I did take a 20-minute break to do a cardio workout. Now I'm too had and sweaty to do anything else. It almost feels counter-productive. And yet, I need to continue.

Well, I'm off to do damage control. If I can figure out where to start.

Until tomorrow:

Days 35 & 36

The weekend has come and gone already.

Friday I woke up early to work out, and did the 20-minute cardio on Turbo Jam. I had to leave with two kids for the weekend by 7 am in order to make it (barely) for my brother's portfolio review. So, needless to say, I didn't blog about it. But I did, in fact, get the workout in.

Today, I've been traveling, shopping (with two said kids at IKEA, not fun), and sightseeing all day. I'm finally home, and believe me, I didn't want to work out. But thanks to some encouragement from my wonderful husband, I did. Tonight it's the Turbo Sculpt, since I was wanting something a little slower. It felt good, and I'm glad I did.

But I'm tired. So, until tomorrow:

Day 34

Well, the sluggishness continued today, and I didn't drag myself to a workout until 4:00.

So there you have it. I still have down days. But I still did something.

The Country Line Dance workout video is what I chose today. I thought maybe dancing wouldn't feel like too much of a workout. I was right. It was fun, though I did sweat a significant amount. The movements themselves don't feel like a lot of work, but I'm getting something.

On that note, tomorrow I'll probably have to do an early morning workout, and this time I think I'll just do the 20-minute cardio to start my day. A good cardio workout before a long car ride...hey, it might be a good thing. I don't know.

Well, now Bug wants to do the workout, so we'll see how this goes. Until tomorrow:

Day 33

Sluggish. Tired. Lazy. Non-motivated. Ugh.

That's about how I've felt all day. Which is why I've waited until almost 4:00 to do my workout. And only did the 20-minute one. Which is OK, and I did it to the best of my ability, so there are no regrets there.

But I'm still tired. I'm still sluggish. I'm still non-motivated (which is not good, since I have a kitchen to clean and supper to make).  I wonder if I might be coming down with something. Yesterday I couldn't get enough water. Today, when I drink water, I just feel yucky. Not that it will stop me, since it's important to hydrate. But that, combined with the tired/sluggish feeling all day, makes me wonder.

Ah well, I'll fight it off and be good as new soon. So, until tomorrow:

Day 32

I'm baaaack!

Today was time for more Turbo Sculpt. Wow, I'm feeling the burn. Which is good. I also am feeling my muscles beginning to form and get stronger. It feels so nice to know my muscles can get stronger. That sounds kind of dumb, like "duh, don't you already know that?" I know, I'm a little slow to this fitness game. I have to experience things for myself.

The kiddos did the workout with me. Well, the beginning and the end. It's much nicer when they do it with me, instead of fighting or being under foot the whole time. And Squirt slept, so that helps a great deal as well.

I think that I have few words today. I find I have less and less to say as the days go by. Otherwise I'm just repeating a lot. But it's important that I write it, because it keeps me going. Although this far in, I do feel like I've begun developing a habit, which is the whole point. A healthy habit.

Thanks for hanging in there with me! It'll be over soon. :-)

Until tomorrow:

Happy Fitness!

Day 31

No, I did not skip exercising yesterday. I just didn't get to blog about it, because our internet is S.L.O.W. Also, the blogger website was just not loading at all. Yes, I probably could have written a post on my phone, but that's just not really fun.

Anyway, it wasn't all that exciting. I did the 20-minute cardio workout on Turbo Jam. I was feeling REALLY lazy, and didn't want to do anything but lay on the couch. Instead, I got up to do a workout.

By the time I got into it, I actually felt like I had the energy to finish. And it helped my energy the rest of the day, I think. Not that I had a lot, but I didn't stay on the couch! :-)

So, lesson learned: sometimes you just have to force yourself to get up and do it. Of course, I knew this, but I wasn't expecting to have more energy once I did. I really, really did not want to work out yesterday, but so glad I did!

Well, I'll have another post later after I do my workout today. As it stands right now, that will probably be in the afternoon, since I have several errands to run in the few hours the bigger kids are at preschool today.

So, until later today:

Happy Fitness!

Day 30

Up bright and early, folks, because I'm heading out of town and I didn't know when I'd be back to do a workout. Better safe than sorry.

Remember I don't like to run early in the morning? Still true.

Should I count the reasons? They really just came to me this morning.

1. My mouth and throat are DRY, despite having just drank about 16 oz of water right before running.
2. My muscles and joints are SO sore when I wake up in the morning. Yes, it's a problem for running.
3. I'm hungry. Yes, I thought about this before the run, and then completely forgot to do something about it.
4. I'm not really a person that early in the morning.

There may be more reasons, these are the ones I discovered this morning.

However, there are some redeeming qualities about running early.

1. It's not terribly hot (the applies to summer only!). Although, I say that, but I'm sitting here literally dripping in sweat. Hm.
2. The shade still covers enough of the road to cool you down.
3. Lots of people have sprinklers running this time of day.
4. It's more quiet, and less traffic.

Other reasons I had a hard time today, mainly just one. Remember that rib that went out last Sunday? I couldn't get a deep enough breath today. It hurt too bad, so all my breathing was pretty shallow.

So how did I do today? Slower. I'm sure you were expecting that.

My pace averaged 10.26 min/mile.

And I'm a little bummed, because I now believe (as I kind of suspected) that the last few times I ran with a really fast pace was not really correct. The app wasn't working correctly, I believe, and was not calculating the correct distance. Today it calculated that same route as being half a mile shorter than it was reporting before. Therefore, my time could not be quite as awesome as it was telling me.

However, even though I was slower today, I still ran a better pace than pre-fitness-challenge. So happy face once again! :-)

Well, have a great Sunday, and until tomorrow:

Happy Fitness!

Day 29

Turbo Sculpt seems to be getting harder. I guess my muscles need a bit of a break. But I'm so happy to say, they are there. The muscles, I mean.

Sunshine did about 7.5 minutes with me, then she was too tired to go on. Bug did about the same, but not really doing the exercises. It's pretty cute to watch them figuring it out, and I got them each a set of 2 lb weights, so they enjoy doing it, too. In fact, they ask for this one more now.

Squirt slept through the workout, but just barely.  She's heating up my lap as I type, which is not really appreciated, since I'm already dripping sweat. But that's where she's happiest, these days. Although since she rolls over, she happily lays on the floor for good chunks of time, as well. Oh, who am I kidding? She's happy just about anywhere she is. Unlike...well, I won't mention names. Too many to count, I think. Me included, maybe. Oops, just got too personal. Ha!

Well, I'm off to try cooling down while Sunshine and Bug have some "quiet" time. If you know how to teach quiet time to preschoolers, please, by all means, tell me the secret.

Until Sunday:

Happy Fitness!

Day 28

Getting closer!

Today I did the Country Line Dance workout video. I think I followed it better today, and it's only the second time I've done it. Not bad! I don't feel like I worked that hard, and yet I'm very sweaty. So there's at least an indication that it is working something. Even if it's just cardio, which of course is very important. They consider it a lot of leg work, but I guess after doing Turbo Sculpt almost every other day, it doesn't feel like leg work at all. But the cardio is still good. And it's fun!

The days are getting hotter, and I am going to be struggling more to continue working out. It's just too warm, and I overheat easily. And yet, mornings aren't good for me either because I just don't feel good getting up early and working out. I've got to find a balance, somehow. I'm still thinking on it.

Well, until tomorrow:

Happy Fitness!

Day 27

I'm posting on my phone today, so it will probably be short.

I did Turbo Sculpt this morning. Whew! It felt so hard today! My muscles felt in fatigue before I even started. Maybe I did it too early in the morning. 😒

Even though it was hard, and my rib is still painful, I pressed on. It sure felt good to finish.

It's working, though. Check it out: I had to hold Squirt several times for extended periods to get her to sleep last night. Previously, I would have been worn out and sore after only a few minutes. But I didn't get tired and sore at all! So exciting! This is helping me in my daily life as well as my running. It's great!

So until tomorrow:

Happy Fitness!

Day 26

It's a bit of a down day. This week seems like that, a little. I'm still in considerable pain from my "dislocated" rib (for lack of a proper diagnosis). So for cardio today I did just the 20-minute workout on Turbo Jam. It's easy, doesn't strain the rib area, and can mostly follow it now, even with no sound. Which I did today, because I chose to do it during quiet time.

That's not to say the kids were completely unaware that I was doing a "workup" (as Bug puts it). They did come out and see that I was doing it. But I sent them back to quiet time. They aren't being quiet. But I still get a little break. So what if they're tired later? I will be, too.

Well, short post today. Not much I feel I have to say. I sure hope I'm feeling better soon, I prefer the longer, more intense workouts these days. But this one did make me sweat, so there are no complaints.

I'm seeing results, so this challenge is good for me. Even if the only result is that I can run faster. How cool is that? I hope I see others, as well, though.

So, until tomorrow:

Happy Fitness!

Day 25

So I have to be real with ya'll right now. Working out today was hard.

I didn't mention this in yesterday's post, but after my run yesterday, during my shower, it felt like a rib popped out of place. I get this occasionally, and it's very painful. I was in significant pain the rest of the day, even with some OTC pain meds on board.

And this doesn't go away overnight. No, it settles in for about a week of pain, maybe more, rarely less. So today, I was not too thrilled about working out.

I did the Turbo Sculpt, which I generally enjoy. Most of it was fairly painless, or I could modify it so I wasn't in too much pain. Oh, but when it came time, at the end, for chest and ab work...I almost gave up. Honestly, I had already done 33 minutes of exercise, and it wouldn't have been such a big deal to skip that part. But I pushed through. Good idea? Maybe not. At the moment, I don't feel any worse for the wear, but we'll see.

Other challenges today included Sunshine and Bug being less-than-respectful to each other, so I had to stop and separate them. Squirt was watching, and got a big restless about halfway through. She worked that out, with the help of Bug, who held her hand with his left hand while he drew on the easel with his right hand. So cute!

Bug fell asleep at the end of the workout video, and is currently still sleeping on the floor. Squirt is on a blanket being entertained by a sleepy Sunshine (she'd never admit to being sleepy).

Until tomorrow:

Happy Fitness!
